Sen. Jim Rhoades, left some people puzzled during a recent Senate hearing into the controversial hiring of a former state Sen. Joe Contini to a newly created CEO's post within the stae Liquor Control Board. It's a $150,000-a-year position. Governor Ed Rendell's plan to hire Conti blinded-sided Rhoades.
Rhoades said it made them look like "a bunch of bums." "We're all standing around looking like a bunch of, pardon the term, heevahavas because we don't know what's going on," he said.
Hardly anyone knew what Rhoades was referring to when he used that term.
According to the Bureau Chief for Times*Shamrock the term is a synonym for a dolt or imbecile. But, it also has another meaning according to the web site www.urbandictory.com. In Amish country, it's a name given to the unfortunate farmhand who must perform a dislikeable task to help inseminate bulls.
