The End of a Season -- Worth My Salt

I've had a lot of fun operating this blog, but for several reasons I've decided that it has come to an end.

This is what I'll miss the most. I've had numerous Chaplain cadidates and those who were following the Call into the Chaplaincy emailing and asking questions. It was fantastic to mentor them as a far as I could, and even strike up friendships with them. I also will feel badly about friends and Family around the country who would regularly check up on it, and will no longer have this medium to stay connected with me.

But, the crux of the matter, the problem for me, is partly the medium. There is a certain amount of respect for what I do as a Chaplain that (in my opinion) sort of reduces the people I serve to a sound bite, an Op Ed piece, or a slice of spectacular training or virtual heroism. And, I hold Soldiers to a much greater level of respect than that.

There's just a certain kind of sacredness and responsibility of my position as a Chaplain, and how I represent myself to the world through this medium that I have become uncomfortable.

No one has told me to quit this, or shut it down. I presently, and for the near future just don't want what I write to be open for debate, at least as a Chaplain. If I were a civilian, that would be another story.

One thing I do ask is for your continued prayers for our Troops, and that God would bring about an acceptable level of peace for those living in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our Troops are awesome, and they are ready to do what their country calls them to do. Please pray for me and my upcoming deployment. If you are a friend or Family member and have further questions, feel free to email me.

The Lord's Best,

Paul
